Sex Work and Magic/Energy Manipulation: How to Cleanse and Remove Negative Energy

We're all energy workers, but only a few of us are aware that our actions, words, and thoughts shift energy and produce tangible results in our lives. The current paradigm of materialism posits that only visible, material, repeatable phenomena are "real," discrediting energy work/magic/the metaphysical in favor of utilizing the scientific method as it's higher power. Read my previous blogs on energy work to understand how science is merely a set of probabilities shifting over time and not some immutable, higher, sacred truth.
More and more of us are waking up, realizing that the paradigm of materialism leaves us feeling lost, like a deep part of us is missing and in our quest for meaning we search, oftentimes discovering that the first type of wisdom employed by our ancestors wasn't merely superstition. Magic/energy manipulation was and is very real in indigenous cultures across the world and as we deconstruct our colonial, modern perspective we realize that our dismissal of myths and the metaphysical is shortsighted.
Of course there's no way to collect data on this, but it seems to me like SWers practice energy work on a more consistent, intentional basis when compared to non-SWers. Do you always have a salt bath after working? Congratulations, you're an energy worker. Spiritual (or energetic) hygiene is something that all humans should be engaging with daily, just like a daily shower. As Dr. Malidoma Patrice Some writes in is powerful yet accessible book Of Water and the Spirit: Ritual, Magic and Initiation in the Life of an African Shaman, the West is suffering a "sickness of the soul" wherein simply going online or to the corner store and interacting with unhappy people can leave us energetically depleted.
He tells us how he has to return to his tribal village in Africa in order to energetically cleanse himself from all the toxicity of our Western, materialist world.
SW is especially toxic in that we interact intimately with folks, either online or in person, and share energies. Yes, our screens are portals that conduct meaning and energy. I'll go over how I remove toxic energies and call in that which I require and desire.
The Evil Eye and SW Social Media
I used to roll my eyes when I heard people discussing concepts like cleansing energy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're fooling yourself, I'd think. My mind was still stuck in viewing the scientific method as my higher power and I viewed life from a colonial mindset, dismissing ancient, indigenous belief systems as somehow lesser than the newer, materialist Western paradigm.
Severe emotional and physical pain forced me to begin meditating, and I woke up, realizing many truths simultaneously. One of these truths being that the ancient wisdom shared across many cultures, allowing our ancestors to survive, has validity.
As SWers with social media platforms, we are public figures who attract both good and bad attention. We post very intimate images and thoughts online, attracting hate/envy and evoking many negative emotions from those who view our images and project, consciously or unconsciously, The Evil Eye onto us. Our SW personas are part of who we are and when someone looks at our websites, our ads, or our social media posts with negativity/envy, it can harm us.
If you have ever upset an unbalanced person or persons online by threatening their image or saying something I don't like, you'll be at a greater risk when it comes to The Evil Eye. I, for example, began warning other SWers in the fall of 2023 about two dangerously covert/malignant narcissistic/sociopathic SWers, E.L. in Chicago and V.P. in Vegas, who have doxxed/hacked/obsessively slandered myself, Marisa Marco, and others whom I can't publicly name (but you should ask around on anonymous SW Twitter about these two if you don't believe me. Many SWers are privately terrified of them.)
They stalk myself and the other public-facing victim's socials, websites and ads like there's no tomorrow, and have used their 50 sock accounts to obsess about/shit talk everything I post online. Think about all the negative energy thrown onto those of us who have cyber stalkers or unwell fans.
My thing is, I love the fact that these types waste so much time obsessing/checking notifications every time I post, while I stopped checking their stuff when I detoxed from social media, so I don't mind the attention and I'd still do cleansing energy work whether or not these nuts were stalking me online.
I, and many people reading this, have unbalanced folks obsessing about our social media posts/images and our online personas. If we are especially attractive, successful, and/or magnetic like a Scorpio, we'll garner even more of this jealousy. Can you tell I have strong Scorpio placements? (But don't worry, I'm an Aquarius sun, which is why I get so pissed off about predators playing the victim while privately abusing the vulnerable.)
This is why reversible candles are so damn effective. All SWers (and anyone posting their image online) should be using reversible candles because they're highly effective and very easy to use.
Reversible Candles
Whether it's an unbalanced predator online or a delulu, obsessed former client, SWers are subject to the projected insecurities of others. Those of us who show our eyes online are especially susceptible to this transfer of negativity. Native Americans oftentimes refused to have their photo taken and if they did, they never faced the camera because Spirit taught them that this image could be used to curse/place negative energy on them. Since photography was invented, photos of a person looking into the camera have been used to curse. Laugh all you want, but I've cursed a few abusers using their photos with devastating, measurably delicious effect. (Bye, Bye $, LLC, looks, online image and sanity/health.)
Whether we reveal our eyes or not, reversible candles are useful to remove negative energy and send it back to where it came from. In-person SWers encounter a lot of different energies on an intimate basis so these candles are especially useful for us. After I worked my first reversible candle, I began writing again. But I wasn't only writing, my words were divinely inspired and I stopped engaging in a self destructive behavior pattern without even trying.
I wrote my first energy work/magic blog and was shocked at how well it was received. Overnights and extended bookings flew and continue to fly in out of nowhere and although my clients are often businessmen and very based in the material, they usually mention enjoying my magical writing. Huh?
Yes, this is how powerful reversible candles are. They can break generational curses and open new doorways to abundance and creativity when used in conjunction with other types of magic.
There are many different ways to work these candles and some folks work them weekly. I find that the large, glass prayer candles are most effective and I never put my candles out. They sit in the bathtub when I'm sleeping or not home, staying lit for days. I did have a glass candle (not a reversible candle) shatter due to being too hot, so make sure you place your candles on a heat safe dish.
Reversible candles are black on the top, removing negativity and are red on the bottom, sending negativity right back to whoever knowingly or unknowingly sent it to us. Some candles have red on the top and black on the bottom, which makes no logical sense to me. I buy mine at botanicas in NYC or online and work with Santa Muerte to do this return-to-sender work because this ancient death goddess energy is especially powerful when it comes to cutting away that which doesn't serve us.
It's sad that I have to point out that devotion to death is an open practice. Read a book on Santa Muerte or ask any Mexican devotee: There is no hate or discrimination when it comes to Holy Death: She's with everyone and therefore works with everyone. As the saying goes, "La Santa no discrimina."
We don't need to invoke any particular energy but it's very simple and effective to work with Santisima, Kali, Hecate or a Dark Feminine. Our ancestors can be invoked. Simply speak the words, "I invoke the power of (insert name)" and they will answer. Ascended beings don't care what our skin color or our ethnicity is, in my experience. These higher powers want to help and heal everyone for the good of humanity, not just one group. They want us to unite, not be divided based on superficial aspects.
They look beyond recent history and see that we're all brothers and sisters in humanity, struggling to unite and live as one.
My altar is first physically cleaned and I set all my supplies out on my altar or to the side. We don't need an altar but using the same work space each time raises energy and enhances our work. Anything can be an altar, but many practitioners prefer wood because the spirit of a tree is powerful.
How I Work My Reversible Candles with Holy Death
Remember that I have different energies within and around me than you do so use whatever tools feel best. Use what you have! This may be difficult for newer practitioners but will become intuitive over time.
1) First, I cleanse my space/body with sustainably sourced, organic loose sage over charcoal. I place my black Santa Muerte statue on my work space in front of where the candle will be placed.
2) Holding the candle, I start at the crown of my head, making two circles counterclockwise to banish, then brush the candle down my body while speaking aloud my intent, "By the Power of Santisima Muerte, I remove all negative energy, returning it to sender." I switch up my words, but am constantly speaking because our words have power. We can visualize Santisima using her scythe to cut away any darkness attached to us but visualization isn't my forte. I speak it and it happens.
3) I rub the candle in my hands and speak into it, again repeating my intention, before lighting. All objects hold energy.
4) I use matches to light the candle while speaking my intention.
5) I stare into the flame and continue chanting and speaking with emotion, transmitting all my energy into the flame. Some practitioners use visualization.
6) I put 3 dashes of freshly cracked black pepper into the flame while speaking my intention.
7) I put 1 drop of tea tree oil onto the top of the candle while speaking my intention.
8) I take fresh or dried organic rosemary (doesn't have to be organic but if you can afford it, use it) and put a dash into the flame
9) Red chili flakes are placed in a circle counterclockwise around the candle.
10) I write my petition in the back of my book of shadows and tear it/cut it out away from me, then place it on my altar in front of or under the candle. My petition reads, "By the Power of La Santisima Muerte, I now and forever remove all curses, generational or otherwise. I now and forever remove all negativity sent to me. I now and forever remove all negativity and evil, now and forever returning this energy to sender." I read this aloud 3x or 9x.
This petition is long as heck so when performing the steps listed above, I try to keep it simple and repeat the chant written in step 2. As long as we say something about removal and returning to sender, it'll be effective.
11) I speak aloud a Psalm 9x. I find that the more energy I put into energy work, the more effective it is. A lot of SWers have resentments against the Bible for obvious reasons (as I did) but my ancestors were Christians and the words in the Bible have power on many levels. The collective unconscious power of the Bible is real and those of us with Christian or Jewish ancestors may find that we obtain amazing results when reading Biblical words with meaning. Psalm 91 or 23 are very effective. If we can't sit still long enough to read the Psalm 9x, 3x may also work.
12) I start working this candle usually under a waning moon around midnight. Every night, I'll add more black pepper and tea tree oil (or any cleansing oil like peppermint or eucalyptus) while speaking my intention and rereading my petition 3x. Maybe throw in another Psalm or two.
Working between midnight and 3 AM is very effective for baneful magic or magic generally due to the power of the moon AKA the Divine Feminine. It's not called the witching hour for some random reason. The veil between our world and the realms of the Mighty Ones is thin during this time when the moon shines brightly overhead, awakening the unknown.
Additionally, when sending energy back to someone, it's often effective to do this when they're asleep. Keep their time zones in mind when cursing or returning to sender. (I don't curse anyone unless they've abused and traumatized me. This is not to be done lightly. I only curse when I believe the curse is justified, but as usual, I digress.)
13) I throw my candle out afterwards but some save the glass and refill it.
This is not one and done. As with most energy working, we usually have to repeat our works for them to work. Energies shift, we post new hot videos online and unbalanced people get another hate boner, projecting their insecurities onto us and Bam! We bust out the rosemary and light another candle while they stay forever blue balled.
Daily Energetic Hygiene Routine
Papa Seer, a highly skilled practitioner whom I've discussed previously, taught me that we should have an energetic/spiritual cleansing routine that we adhere to daily. This is especially important for me to engage in before and after a sexy session. Just like a daily or twice daily shower, a daily hygiene routine keeps us fresh... energetically speaking.
Some clients, whether they realize it or not, carry negative energies that can linger on us whether we did a cam session or an in-person appointment. Smoke is a simple way to cleanse but if you can't burn anything in your home and don't have access to an outdoor space to burn incense, I'll write a bit about how I cleanse using water and the energies of certain plants in a later blog on baths, showers, and floor washes.
Smoke has been used by many cultures and traditions to remove bad energy. I make my own loose incense and incense cones (which are very easy to make) and also buy premade incense, but for a more powerful cleanse I prefer to use a pure plant like sage or cedar, organic and sustainably sourced if possible, atop a piece of coal. Use whatever plant speaks to you because your energies may prefer a different type of plant. Many traditions ask the plant to help them and use their intuition when deciding which plants to work with.
Before and after sexy time I run smoke over my body, from head to toe and up again, three times while chanting the same three words over and over. It's most effective, IMHO, if we create our own chants but mine is, "Bless me, protect me, guide me" usually spoken in Spanish because I work frequently with Santisima Muerte. I then command the negative energy out using my words and physically push the energy out. If you don't work with Holy Death, you can say, "By the power of my ancestors, I command all negative energy out now!" three times. The last time I say my commanding words, I visualize a black smoke billowing out of the open window or door. This won't remove stubborn, more powerful negative energies but will remove lighter attachments. Stubborn energies can be removed with other techniques I'll discuss in a later blog.
Then I apply my homemade self love, love, prosperity and attraction oils. These are extremely easy to make and more effective than buying an oil from someone else. If we don't have our own oils, we can anoint ourselves with olive oil. Do what feels best but it's traditional to anoint the crown of our head and the soles of our feet. I oftentimes put oil on the back of my neck and lower spine because the spine transmits energy throughout the body. I speak as I apply these oils, calling in my love and abundance.
When we remove negativity, it's also important to call in our blessings. Remove, then call in the energy required and desired.
Entire books have been written on cleansing and removing negative energy. I find that baths and floor washes are very powerful ways of removing more powerful negativity/curses but I fear that this blog post is already too long for most folks.
